| Wonder,
Awe, Mystery, Majesty History teaches that no matter how vital or flourishing a religious movement might be at its outset, it inevitably undergoes some degree of institutionalization that can rob it of its vitality. The resulting forms are often just shadows of what were once significant and meaningful expressions of the heart. Worshipers become ritualists. Participants become spectators. How can we keep this from happening in our own lives? We must "engage" God with all our being. Feeling close to God is not enough if it isn't based on a true understanding that informs and illuminates our experiences. And knowing about God is not enough if it is removed from an emotional experience of the personal presence of God in day-to-day life. It is remarkable that the revealed word of God points to a God who desires just such a relationship with us. He demands worship that engages our whole self - heart and mind, in spirit and in truth. |

"Henry's writing lifts us above religious routines and helps us to view God with a new sense of wonder. At the same time it challenges us to make practical decisions that will enrich the spiritual journey and bring honor to God." from the foreword by Kelly Petre Subjects:
